General Audience Messages

“Living Your Life Beyond Limits”

In this presentation I draw from my personal challenges to paint a vivid inspirational picture.

From a special needs child blossoming into fulfilled adulthood your audience will be captivated and encouraged to achieve success that goes beyond physical abilities.

Your opportunities in life, work and relationships may seem to have limits with a disability or life challenge, but embracing a positive attitude and setting attainable goals directly affects how successful you can be in overcoming those obstacles and having a more fulfilling life.

“Rolling My Role In Life”

This is a personal Q & A session with youth in grades K -12.  It’s a candid and honest conversation that gives young, inquisitive minds the opportunity to ask someone with disabilities all the questions they may have wanted to ask but were told not to. My message focuses on inclusive behaviors and emphasizes the fact that, although people with disabilities may appear different from others on the outside, inside we’re all the same.

You can also invite me to visit with your special education and accelerated reading groups. I have a list of suggested reading for disability acceptance topics.

Rehab centers, specialized summer camps for kids with disabilities and chronic illness, college-level special education and reading classes for teachers and support groups will also find me to be a good example and ‘roll’ model to lift up audiences.

General Audience Messages

“Life & Career Vision Creation”

You will discover a powerful tool where you display images of your goals, dreams and desires.

Assemble and create for yourself a bridge between your thoughts and actions that you can see every day, and transform your goals
in all areas of your life into something easier to achieve now.

“I Can Activity”

A dear mentor from childhood shared this activity with me to keep me focused on the positive in life, regardless of the obstacles.

Now, I pass this very simple yet powerful activity on to you! The ”I Can Activity” is perfect for seminars of small groups (6-12 people), all ages and abilities, but can be customized for larger groups.

This fun hands-on activity (you don’t have to be a crafter to love it!) will give you the tools you need to focus on a goal so you CAN see and act powerfully. Perfect for, but not limited to, worship groups and circles, youth and scouting organizations, disability and chronic illness support groups, small business groups, women’s groups, veterans’ and senior citizen activity groups.

Corporate Messages

“Hiring People with Disabilities: Is It Good PR or Just Good Business?”

What’s the value of hiring individuals with disabilities from a business perspective? This presentation explores such pertinent business issues as: Can hiring people with disabilities actually increase a business’ market share? Would an employee with a disability fit in with my other employees? And, will they be accepted by my customers and clients?

“Disability Sensitivity & ‘People First Language’ Training”

I have addressed many in Corporate America about how to create a workplace atmosphere of inclusion while respecting diversity.

This message embraces such topics as how to view those with disabilities as equals, when and how to offer help, how to voluntarily comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act and how to communicate using “People First” Language and perspective.

“ADA Compliance Can Be As Easy As 1-2-3”

The American Disabilities Act has set in motion measures for  accessibility and reasonable accommodations in the workplace and in many aspects of community life. I outline in easy to understand language how to reasonably and economically create an atmospher of greater inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities that comply with these guidelines.

Cross-Disability Messages

“Life & Career Vision Creation”

This seminar will teach you a powerful tool where you display images of your goals, dreams and desires. You will learn to assemble and create for yourself a bridge between your thoughts and actions, and transform your goals in all areas of your life into something you can see, touch and achieve.

“10 Steps to Being a Better Self Advocate (or Parent Advocate)”

I have served as an advocate for my own rights and with people with disabilities for many years. I’ve put together important pointers for having your say and your rights honored. I’ll show listeners with disabilities (and parents of children with disabilities) how to become better advocates  through verbal or written communication with your peers, family, community agencies, businesses and public officials on local, state and federal levels.

Whether you want to write to these contacts, speak before municipal boards, connect with your commissioners or march your way across your capital and mobilize your way to Capitol Hill, I can show you how to get heard and get results.

“Supporting Skills Sets for Developing Social and Sexual Lives”

This intimate topic is for people with disabilities, their families, providers and support professionals.

Explore the myths, misconceptions and questions around the sexual feelings and social needs many individuals with disabilities may be experiencing, but are unable or afraid to express appropriately, and/or safely fulfill.

Learn the tools to approach these topics in a healthy, safe and appropriate way, while still honoring personal and family, as well as the individual as a whole person worthy of knowing who they are inside and what they want from life in social and intimate situations.

“Tips on Building Positive Self-Esteem with a Disability”

In order to accomplish anything of value, you must first believe that you can do it. People with disabilities often struggle with an “I can’t do that” attitude. I share my encouraging spirit and wry sense of humor to tell you that you can do it!

“First Step FastTrac® New Entrepreneurship”

Through my affiliation as a certified trainer with the Kauffman Foundation’s First Step FastTrac program, I lead participants through defining their personal vision and goals, examining their business idea from every angle, determining whether their business concept is a feasible business opportunity, and discovering whether the life of an entrepreneur is right for them. This is perfect for people of all abilities, but particularly for adults with disabilities and veterans looking for a way to tailor their talents and abilities around a business idea.
